ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Commercial Category Manager to lead local sourcing and category management for our Duty Free operations at Perth International Airport. This is a permanent full-time role, central to driving commercial performance through effective supplier negotiations, promotional planning, and margin optimisation. Working closely with Marketing, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, and Global and Regional Commercial teams, you will play a key role in delivering category strategies and achieving business objectives within Avolta’s travel retail environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize and coordinate sourcing activities related to local suppliers across the cluster.

  • Negotiate commercial terms and agreements, ensuring alignment with global procurement strategies

  • Manage vendor relationships, resolve issues, and follow up on open topics.

  • Initiate and negotiate new projects with local suppliers in collaboration with global procurement.

  • Define and implement local sourcing strategies in line with global category direction.

  • Prepare negotiation strategies and supporting documentation for supplier discussions.

  • Plan and execute stock depletion and liquidation programs for discontinued items.

  • Coordinate with Marketing and Retail Operations to plan and implement local promotions.

  • Input promotions into A&P tools and ensure timely go-live with product managers.

  • Support shop layout and planogram development for local products.

  • Monitor and analyze sales, margins, inventory levels, and supplier performance.

  • Track promotional effectiveness and ensure compliance with margin policies.

  • Prepare action plans based on performance insights and ensure contract compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Provide category insights to airport authorities and other local stakeholders.

 

ABOUT YOU:

  • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or commercial roles, preferably in retail or FMCG.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or Marketing

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

  • Analytical mindset with experience in margin and performance tracking.

  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities across cross-functional teams.
