PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of our global growth strategy, supporting strategic transactions and investment initiatives worldwide. The role supports M&A through robust financial modelling, scenario analysis, and business insights, while actively partnering with cross-functional teams to assess new growth opportunities and drive the successful delivery of strategic initiatives. Based in Basel with a planned transition to Zurich in Q1 2027, you will work closely with the senior leadership and cross functional teams.
The role reports to Global Mergers and Acquisitions Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support end-to-end M&A processes, including target screening, valuation, due diligence, execution, and integration planning
- Build and maintain complex financial models (DCF, LBO, comparable analysis, scenario modelling)
- Prepare investment memos, board materials, and executive presentations
- Conduct industry, market, and competitor research to inform strategic decisions
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (finance, strategy, legal, operations) and external advisors to ensure seamless execution
- Partner with business leaders throughout the M&A life cycle to ensure strategic fit, smooth integration, and value optimization
- Perform risk assessments on proposed transactions and provide strategic recommendations
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify value creation opportunities
- Support Avolta’s growth strategy through active involvement in identifying, assessing, and executing M&A transactions, investments, joint ventures, and divestitures
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, management consulting (Big-4), or corporate finance/business development within a multinational organization
- Exposure to the retail industry is a strong advantage
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, international environment
- Solid understanding of corporate finance, valuation methodologies, and financial modelling
- Proven analytical and conceptual skills with a detail-oriented and solution-driven mindset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across cultures and levels
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
- Proactive, reliable, and self-motivated with a collaborative and open-minded approach
