PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

 

The Global Shop Development Technical Design Coordinator, based in Madrid, supports and coordinates the design development process for retail projects from feasibility and tender phases through to execution.

The role will report to the Global Shop Development Senior Design Manager and is responsible for ensuring that all technical (architectural and engineering) information is properly developed, coordinated, and delivered for construction projects approved by the Capex Board, in line with company standards, timelines, and approved budgets.

This position also ensures alignment between concept design and final execution by coordinating internal teams and external agencies.

As part of the global team, this role will contribute to shaping innovative and high-quality retail environments in some of the world’s most dynamic travel locations.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Coordinate internal country/division design teams and external agencies involved in retail projects
  • Ensure the delivery of all required technical documentation (architectural & engineering) for approved projects
  • Manage compliance with airport authority requirements, concessionaire manuals, and local regulations to obtain approvals
  • Support and coordinate layout development in line with business needs until final General Arrangement (GA) approval
  • Review external agencies’ deliverables to ensure alignment with design intent and company standards
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring timelines, budgets (Capex), and quality standards are met
  • Research new materials, technologies, and suppliers to improve design, cost efficiency, and sustainability
  • Provide support on innovation initiatives, special projects, and business-driven events
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including Global Design, Project Managers, Category Heads, and Operations teams

 

 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

 

  • Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in retail design projects
  • Strong knowledge of the retail design process from concept to detailed design
  • Proven experience working in multi-stakeholder and international environments
  • Solid project management and coordination skills
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory)
  • Knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, and 3D Studio Max is a plus
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Fluent English (additional languages are a plus)
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on delivery, quality, and continuous improvement
