PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Senior Strategy & Insights Manager is the strategic storytelling and orchestration lead for Avolta’s Commercial Optimization function. The role translates complex analytics, data science, and machine learning outputs into clear strategic narratives, robust business cases, and executive ready recommendations. As Avolta continues to scale advanced optimization capabilities across pricing, assortment, promotions, and inventory, this role shapes strategic frameworks, drives high impact initiatives, and establishes governance models that enable commercial excellence across our €12B+ global business. This is a hands-on, high exposure role requiring strong strategic thinking, analytical rigor, executive communication, and program management. The role operates at multiple altitudes—designing board-level narratives, conducting analytical deep dives, and facilitating alignment workshops with regional and functional leaders.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Projects & Business Cases

  • Lead strategic initiatives shaping the future of commercial optimization (e.g., Pricing Transformation, Assortment Rationalization, Dynamic Pricing Roadmap)
  • Develop end‑to‑end business cases including market analysis, competitive benchmarking, financial modeling (ROI, NPV, payback), implementation roadmaps, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct strategic deep dives on complex commercial questions (e.g., pricing differentiation by airport tier, optimal assortment size by location type)
  • Design governance models covering decision rights (global vs. regional), review cadence, escalation mechanisms, and performance tracking
  • Create best‑practice playbooks for pricing, assortment, promotions, and inventory based on analytics and industry benchmarking
  • Facilitate strategic workshops with Commercial, Finance, Operations, Data Science, and Regional teams
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive developments, and innovation in retail optimization; synthesize implications for senior leadership

Executive Communication & Storytelling

  • Translate complex analytical and data science outputs into concise, compelling narratives for C-suite and Board audiences.
  • Create high‑quality, executive‑ready presentations (PowerPoint / Keynote) for strategic reviews, investment decisions, and governance forums
  • Draft crisp strategic memos, one‑pagers, and executive summaries distilling complex topics into key insights and recommendations
  • Design clear data visualizations and infographics that simplify complexity and support decision‑making
  • Present directly to senior leadership when required, representing the Commercial Optimization function
  • Anticipate executive questions and prepare supporting analyses, appendices, and sensitivity scenarios
  • Partner closely with data science leads to translate concepts such as ML models, statistical significance, and causal inference into business language
  • Establish storytelling standards and templates to ensure consistency across the team.

Program Management & Coordination

  • Track and manage progress across the Commercial Optimization roadmap, including milestones, dependencies, and risks
  • Run governance cadences: prepare agendas, capture decisions and actions, and ensure follow‑through
  • Coordinate cross‑functional workstreams across data science, BI, commercial teams, regions, and IT/engineering.
  • Identify and escalate blockers, risks, and dependencies early to protect outcomes and timelines.Serve as a central point of contact for regional and commercial stakeholders. Maintain a structured repository of strategic documents, business cases, and learnings

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 7–10 years of experience in strategy, consulting, or analytically driven business roles, with a proven record of delivering measurable commercial impact
  • Strong ability to structure complex, ambiguous problems and translate them into clear strategic recommendations for senior leadership
  • Experience partnering with C‑suite stakeholders on high‑stakes decisions
  • Strong strategic and analytical foundation, including financial modeling, quantitative analysis, and data interpretation
  • Comfort working with data and analytics tools (Excel, SQL, BI platforms) to support insight generation and decision‑making
  • Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills: produces concise, visually compelling, C‑suite‑ready presentations and narratives
  • Strong data visualization judgment; distills complexity into clear, decision‑oriented insights
  • Solid commercial and financial acumen, including P&L dynamics, pricing, merchandising, promotions, inventory economics, and value‑creation metrics
  • Comfortable operating at the intersection of business strategy, analytics, and data science
  • Proven ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders without formal authority and manage multiple initiatives in parallel
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams and operating effectively in complex, international environments
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Preferred

  • MBA or management consulting background
  • Experience in retail, e‑commerce, travel, hospitality, or consumer goods
  • Exposure to pricing, revenue management, or merchandising strategy
