Head Global Lease Accounting

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Head Global Lease Accounting is responsible for Avolta’s global lease accounting in accordance with applicable external reporting requirements, and Avolta’s internal CORE framework, ensuring accurate lease accounting and timely reporting for all stakeholders. Developing the future lease accounting system and team setup, as well as managing and training the lease accounting team and providing training to the wider Avolta finance community on lease accounting topic is also part of this role, based in Bangalore, India. The Head Global Lease Accounting reports to the VP Global Reporting. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Month-End Closing & IFRS16 Compliance

• Coordinates the Month-End Closing process with a focus on lease contracts across all entities within the Avolta Group and in collaboration with other global functions.
• Works with local and regional finance teams to ensure accurate, timely alignment with external financial reporting and CORE standards, and supports entities in meeting local filing obligations relating to lease accounting.
• Ensures compliance with reporting requirements in financial statements.
• Enforces compliance with accounting standards (external and internal).
• Coordination with auditors on lease accounting audit (global) and on issue resolution.
• Acts as escalation point.

Lease Accounting Process and Tools & Data Integrity

• Ownership for controls around lease accounting.
• Ownership of lease accounting data in global lease accounting tools, reconciled to financial records and disclosures.
• Testing, development, and maintenance of global lease accounting tools (Tagetik, Planon).

Training and Development

• Leads and develops Global Lease Accounting team.
• Provides training to internal stakeholders.
• Develops accounting guidance in accordance with external and internal (CORE) standards.
• Responds to accounting queries relating to lease accounting.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Having at least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, additional accounting qualification required (CA, CPA, ACCA)
• Must have at least 8 years of experience in corporate accounting and reporting, with detailed knowledge of lease accounting in accordance with globally recognized frameworks (US GAAP, IFRS).
• Experience with internal controls (SOX)
• Experience with lease accounting tools and SAP experience strongly preferred
• Experience with working with senior management
• Demonstrated people management skills, and experience in upskilling teams in finance and accounting topics
• Project management skills, with focus on data migration and controls required
• Strong communications skills, with proficient levels in English (any other language a plus)

• Experience in training other people and ability to break down complex topics in hands-on instructions
