As Manager Brand Portfolio Development, you will play a key role in bringing this vision to life in the Netherlands with a focus on Schiphol Airport. You will define the concept development strategy and shape the brand portfolio, ensuring it reflects both local relevance and global ambition. Your focus will span across building and growing proprietary brands, scouting new opportunities, and supporting the development team in winning and re-developing tenders.
In this role, you will curate a portfolio that is not only commercially strong but also operationally sustainable, blending international icons with regional champions and local heroes. From the spark of an idea to the moment a new location opens its doors, you will drive both the creative and commercial vision, ensuring every brand journey resonates with guests and delivers value to partners.
Ultimately, you will craft experiences that transform travel moments; creating customer journeys that inspire, delight, and maximize returns for our guests, partners, and Avolta.
Team Structure:
The role sits within the Center of Excellence EMEA, reporting directly to the F&B Director of Portfolio Management & Brand Partnerships EMEA. While there is no formal functional supervisor, collaboration is key—this position works closely with peer managers across various departments including Business Development, Construction & Design, Food & Beverage, Operational Start-Up, and the General Manager. Additionally, alignment with Legal Counsel is essential when navigating brand agreements. Although the role doesn’t involve direct personnel supervision, it plays a pivotal part in cross-functional development processes, acting as a connector and enabler across teams.
Performance areas.
Concept Development:
• Customer journeys: Create strong and experiential customer journeys by (re)developing brands on a local, regional, or global scale.
• Concept briefs: Provide inspiration and guidance to all parties involved in developing concepts and restaurants by delivering concept briefs.
• Account support: Provide concept development support for specific accounts.
• Market knowledge: Gain market knowledge and customer insights by reviewing and interpreting market and consumer research results and competitive analyses as a base for concept development and brand portfolio management for your specific region.
Winning Strategy:
• Strategy formulation: Contribute to the formulation of the Netherlands Business Development Strategy.
• Relationship building: Build, develop, and maintain relationships with relevant parties (F&B brands and partners) for your specific region to grow and enhance Avolta’s positioning and image as a market leader.
• Brand execution: Execute proper brand selection, layout, pricing, promotion, and menu selection activities – based on strategic objectives within the EMEA region.
• Concept strategy: Establish brand portfolio strategy within the Netherlands, aligned with corporate strategy to maximize chances of successful winning with a profitable concept that meets corporate thresholds of profitability.
• Trend research: Conduct continuous research of food and beverage trends throughout the Netherlands and understanding of the global market.
Concept Commercial Plans:
• Plan development: Develop concept commercial plans based on market research results, location review (concept selection, layouts, and exposed enplanements), and overall location analysis to ensure plans are in line with winning strategy for your region.
Business Cases:
• Business case participation: Participate when and where required in developing proper operating assumptions to ensure the creation of sound and realistic business cases.
Brands and Legal:
• Brand approvals: Responsible for securing timely approvals from all brands for site-specific developments, including the completion and submission of required brand documentation and brand development fees.
• Negotiations: Negotiate all aspects of brand development agreements and/or site-specific franchise agreements.
• System integration: Integrate branded systems and processes into non-traditional venues.
Tenders:
• Support development team: Support the development team in tenders by creating compelling content that effectively sells our brand portfolio. This includes overseeing external parties to deliver high-quality designs, creative content, and detailed write-ups that enhance and support our bid proposals.
Leadership:
• Team guidance: Proactively guide, coach, and support team members to achieve concept development-related tender objectives efficiently and on time.
• Learning environment: Foster a learning environment for operators to gain a comprehensive understanding of Avolta’s brand portfolio strategy and processes, business metrics, and best practices from a company-wide perspective.
Competency Profile and Key Accountabilities:
• Educational background: Bachelor's degree in Hotel and Catering Education, Business Administration, Commercial Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
• Industry knowledge: Extensive knowledge within a large international food and beverage environment.
• Experience: Over 5 years of demonstrated experience in the food and beverage industry across various operational and commercial roles.
• Skill set: Ability to display a combination of creative and analytical skills.
• Market knowledge: In-depth understanding of global food & beverage brands and franchise markets.
• Preferred knowledge: Familiarity with the travel retail market (airports, railways, motorways) and volume-driven high street locations.
• Language Skills: Professional proficiency in English is required.
Additional Role Considerations:
• This position is based at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol EMEA Hub.
• Occasional travel may be required to support business needs and cross-functional collaboration.
